"Carpinteria", meaning "carpentry", and I'm told it's so named because of the redwood planked canoes built by a local tribe. But enough of the silly historical babble--the real appeal of this store is the drive up US-101, which hugs the coast all the way here from Ventura. This florid location, in the outer Santa Barbara community of Goleta, is the northenmost store in Southern California, at least along US-101. I may be fluent in Spanish, but my vocabulary is limited. Nevertheless, I will hazard the guess that "montecito" means "little forest", and this Starbucks location certainly bears out its moniker.
